Writers’ groups

Are there any advantages to belonging in a writers’ group? In my opinion, there are pros and cons, and the reason for this is down to the effectiveness of the group. So what does a good writers’ group look like? Here are some of my thoughts and observations:
Writing supporting characters

Can supporting characters sometimes be more fun to write? Ever written a supporting character you end up falling in love with? You know, the one with a quirky personality or abrasive manner or even an annoying trait such as always being late/rude/unreliable. My theory is that for some reason we feel a certain freedom […]

The Dreaded Exposition

So you’ve decided to take up writing. Yay! Welcome to the club! But oh dear, you’re used to taking a factual approach such as with research, report writing, journalism or non-fiction. And when you rest your hands on the keyboard, you’re not sure where to start.
A little about me …
